This ride was scheduled for 7 July but I have swapped them around so we go the opposite direction to Bike Bath.
After Independence Day a couple of US related historical items.
Has life moved on? On this day in 1863 the US began its first military draft.......exemptions cost $300!
And also on this day in 1928 sliced white bread was sold for the first time by the by the Chillicothe Baking Company in Missouri. The company is still going strong and even has a Sliced Bread Visitors Centre if you are in that part of the World. http://www.homeofslicedbread.com/
We are off to our own bit of history at Avebury. Two slightly longer routes. The option to shorten the shorter route is come back along the A4 fromn Avebury and pick up the route at Calne.
Double Espresso Routes. I have not been able to get out to lead the Double Espresso ride recently - too much racing and holidays. But I will start to create a Fast Group Route for each week, and hopefully be out to lead in July. This will use the same Café stop and basic route as David O's, but will be 80kms before the coffee stop and a more direct route home for a ride of 110-130kms The route will generally avoid single track routes - keeping to B roads and minor A roads, allowing for faster riding. The first one is 115kms and 1100ms of climbing, with the coffee stop coming at 75kms. Can any of you download it and lead on Sunday as I am racing. I will use Strava for route planning - any problems send me a message https://www.strav...
